Icones Orchidacearum Brasilienses I is the first volume of a series destined to present Brazilian orchids. It includes 100 sheets, each of them consisting of a text on the first side and a drawing on the other side; the text gives the complete name of the species, a detailed morphological description, its geographic distribution, its habitat and the flowering time; some comments allow to situate the species compared with the most closely related species.
Please see below examples of the botanical drawings.
This first volume mostly deals with the genera Bifrenaria, Catasetum and Encyclia; however, you will find some Oncidium, Pabstia, Zygopetalum and some others taxa as well.
The text is bilingual : Portuguese and English.
A CDROM, sold apart, proposes one or more colour pictures of each of the species described in the Icones.
